SQL Server and IIS configuration

This document applies only to Vanda and 11.4.
This document describes the configuration changes to SQL Server 2012 Express and Internet Information Services web server which are required for Vanda web service and client to run. The operating system used is Windows 10.

Configuration of SQL Server

After the Vanda database has been created in the SQL Server instance, the user “IIS APPPOOL\DefaultAppPool” (or the user that Vanda’s app pool runs as, if non-default app pool is used) needs to be added to the instance logins, with the following settings:
  • General page: leave all settings as-is.
  • Server Roles page: add “dbcreator” role.
  • User Mapping page: Tick under “Map” for the Vanda database. The username and schema will be added automatically, no need to edit. Under “Database role membership for: <Vanda_database>” make sure to add a tick for “db_owner”.
  • Securables page: leave unchanged.
  • Status page: leave unchanged.
If Vanda web service is to run under a non-default app pool, change the user name to be added in SQL Server accordingly.

Configuration of IIS features

Tick for ASP.NET 4.6 under Internet Information Services > World Wide Web Services > Application Development Features and the dependencies will then be selected automatically. Refer to the below screenshot.
